Required – At least one season as a Coach’s Assistant 1. Prior swim experience preferred but not required.
This is a volunteer opportunity that provides a path to becoming a Swim Coach. It provides opportunities to learn the business of coaching under the supervision of a Swim Coach.

- Assist with beginner program instruction

- Walk along poolside to properly observe

- Learn to be a Rule Judge
- Learn stroke rules through video and observation
- Learn starts and finishes rules through video and observation
- Learn turn rules per stroke

- Judge swimmer performance

- Execute instruction under direction of the coaches
- Help Swim Coach assess and place beginner swimmers
- Assist recording meet performance

- Monitor and record swimmer performance during meets
- Provide input to meet lineup
- Cheer and motivate swimmers
- Be available at starting blocks to cheer/encourage swimmers
- Learn how to setup meet equipment and test pool levels
- Assist with all team-building exercises
- Give feedback on training program
- Suggest training exercises and best practices to coach
- Learn Patti Wilder (PW) swimmer training and preparation
- Be present at Fun Days
- Participate in games and activities
- Help pass out ribbons
- Perform any other tasks and activities as required
