Required – An interest in becoming a swim coach. Prior swim experience preferred but not required.
This is a volunteer opportunity that provides a path to becoming a Coach’s Assistant 2. It provides opportunities to learn the business of coaching under the supervision of a Swim Coach.
- Know team season goals
- Actively observe and work with Coaches
- Assist with Session 1 and Beginner program instruction
- Observe 5-8 year old swimmers training
- Be attentive poolside
- Walk along poolside to properly observe
- Use swim notebook
- Take notes on swimmer performance
- Limit non-swim conversation
- Learn to be a Rule Judge
- Learn stroke rules through video and observation
- Learn starts and finishes rules through video and observation
- Learn turn rules per stroke
- Learn DQ rules
- Judge swimmer performance
- Complete one observation form per swimmer
- Learn stroke rules through video and observation
- Execute instruction under direction of the coaches
- Assist with all team-building exercises
- Be present at Fun Days
- Participate in games and activities
- Help pass out ribbons
- Participate in games and activities
- Perform any other tasks and activities as instructed
